The first thought that would run through my mind on Project #2 would be that it feels like I am actually learning something. Not that I did not learn anything in the previous project, but I had struggled so much with it that I felt like I did not gain much out of it. In this, I learned about all the color theory. I had a bit of an idea of it, but not the greatest. Also, mixing colors was quite a bit of fun for myself. Drawing the six circles in different compositions based on definition was kind of odd. I found it difficult to make things “tense” or “hard” with a circular object. Though, this exercise will help get me in a mind set for art. To move on to a different track, my final diptych compositions were actually a do-over. I missed the fact I had to use at least three objects each, so I tried again. The first set was not very good in my opinion. With this final composition, I feel like it is more complete and clean. Originally, I did not personally believe that it could be considered a diptych until critic day when the class had discussed the background may flow together. I very much enjoy my color scheme and I felt what we learned in class helped me in mixing colors for the scheme. Every exercise we did leading prior to the end result assisted me in what I created. I hope that because of this project, I learn to get more of an “artist’s mind” and continuously improve throughout the semester.
