Lauren Tokash - Project 6

When I first went around to gather my tracings for Project 6, I was out looking for things that had an abundance of texture to it. I initially did not imagine anything very objective, so something like a pattern with lines or such was not what came to my mind when I was out searching. I sort of struggled at first because I was using bristol paper instead of something thinner such as printer paper, so my tracings were not showing up like they should. After a rerun of going over my tracings, I finally got what was needed. Creating the 9 x 9 collage, I did not have a preplanned idea, but I went at it with anything and made something with crosshairs and figures that to me looked like peppermints. Its funny as I hate peppermints. I tried to keep everything balanced throughout the piece. Recreating my collage on the 27 x 27 foam core was interesting. I do not believe I pushed myself to be as creative as I could in the beginning to try something more interesting or difficult. My project is a bit bland and simple and I wish I would have attempted to do more with the background with things such as folding and manipulation rather than just adding on with more black pieces of paper. This seems to be a reoccurring situation for myself and projects because I probably feel like I need to stay within the boundaries of the guidelines and not experiment. I need to let my mind wander and create new things.
